My 3 Chapters at Microsoft
I started my career at Microsoft in the summer of 2013 as an intern on the Skype/Lync team. The following summer I started full-time as a designer on the Office Shared Design team. Over the past 6 years, I’ve worked on a horizontal design team that has been responsible for visual, motion and ux for the following platforms Win32, UWP, Windows Phone, Android Phone/tablet, IOS and web. As a group, we were also responsible for 4 visual languages/design system updates across the Microsoft ecosystem. The 3 distinct chapters have been working a large shared design team focusing on motion design, then we started growing as an org and a team called Shared visual and motion team was formed where I did primarily UX design and in my final chapter I was working on Office.com besides that I lead the efforts for Office initial exploration into mixed reality.
OXO Shared Visual and Motion
During my time Shared visual team I mainly helped with ux/visuals for office.com along with focusing on character animations for across platforms. In an effort to modernize our applications, we began exploring illustrations and animations as well as practical animations like progress placeholders. Below is an animation we used in first run experiences, unauth, empty states, and error states.
Our team tackled the splash screen and hover states for the new icon set in Office before task was moved to another team. Below is a small sample of a few I did. We experimented with removing the letter plate to emphasize the silhouette and iconographic nature of the icon to experiment with removing them in the future.

Hololens
I got to work on the first iteration of Office Hololens with another Office designer. We explored many different ideas beyond 2D apps that were eventually shipped. Below is a demo of an exploration into future technologies for Excel and product management. This exploration integrates furniture, similar to IKEA ARKit, but was created several years before that product would exist and would leverage new technology from excel.
